初九：拔茅茹，以其彙，征吉。 Pulling up grass, the roots come with it, each with its kind. Going forward brings luck. Act together with allies.
九二：包荒，用馮河，不遐遺，朋亡，得尚于中行。 Bearing with the uncultured, crossing the river on foot, not neglecting the distant, not favouring friends: thus one walks the middle way. Generosity wins support.
九三：無平不陂，無往不復，艱貞，無咎，勿恤其孚，于食有福。 No plain without a slope, no going without return. Persevering in hardship, no blame. Do not worry about sincerity; enjoy the good you have. Fortune turns; stay mindful.
六四：翩翩，不富以其鄰，不戒以孚。 Fluttering down, not boasting of wealth to neighbours, trusting without guard. Humble, sincere relations.
六五：帝乙歸妹，以祉元吉。 King Yi gives his daughter in marriage; this brings blessings and supreme good fortune. Alliance through humility.
上六：城復于隍，勿用師，自邑告命，貞吝。 The wall falls back into the moat. Do not use the army; issue orders from your own town. Perseverance brings humiliation. When peace peaks, pull back and protect what you have.
