蒙：亨，匪我求童蒙，童蒙求我，初筮告，再三瀆，瀆則不告，利貞。
Success. I do not seek the young fool; the young fool seeks me. The first oracle informs; asking again and again is disrespectful and gets no answer. Perseverance furthers. Learn and ask with sincerity.

初六：發蒙，利用刑人，用說桎梏，以往吝。 Enlightening the fool: use discipline to set an example and remove fetters; but too much severity brings regret. Balance firmness with kindness.
九二：包蒙，吉，納婦吉，子克家。 Bearing with fools: good fortune. Taking a wife is good; the son can run the household. Generosity is rewarded.
六三：勿用取女，見金夫不有躬，無攸利。 Do not take this maiden: seeing a man of gold, she loses herself. Nothing furthers. Don't be swayed by wealth.
六四：困蒙，吝。 Entangled folly brings humiliation. If isolated, actively seek guidance.
六五：童蒙，吉。 Childlike folly: good fortune. A humble, open mind brings luck.
上九：擊蒙，不利為寇，利禦寇。 Punishing folly: it does not further to commit wrongs, only to prevent them. Discipline should guard, not attack.
