訟:有孚窒,惕中吉,終凶,利見大人,不利涉大川。
Sincere but obstructed. Caution and moderation bring luck; going to the end brings misfortune. It furthers one to see the great person, not to cross the great water. Settle disputes early through fair mediation.

九二:不克訟,歸而逋,其邑人三百戶,無眚。 Unable to win, he returns home and escapes; his three hundred households suffer no harm. Yielding protects everyone.
六三:食舊德,貞厲,終吉,或從王事,無成。 Living on old virtue; perseverance is risky but ends well. Serving the king, claim no success. Keep to your part.
九四:不克訟,復即命,渝,安貞吉。 Unable to win, he turns back and accepts fate, changes his mind; quiet perseverance brings luck.
九五:訟,元吉。 Contending before a just judge: supreme good fortune.
上九:或錫之鞶帶,終朝三褫之。 Perhaps given a leather belt, it is taken away three times in a morning. What is won by fighting is hard to keep.
