The image: yin and yang in harmony; all plans go well. The verdict: what is gained will not be lost, and there is benefit within loss; the petty meet misfortune while the noble prosper.
The Ming official Hai Rui was famously incorruptible and spent sixteen years out of office. After Zhang Juzheng's death, the Wanli Emperor recalled him at seventy-two; he kept pressing to punish corruption, and when he died the people closed their shops to mourn him.
