The image: kindness and gentleness accumulated; helpers bring harmony. The verdict: heaven and earth respond, with remarkable results; protected by the divine, never forget what you receive.
At the end of Qin, Zhang Liang met an old man on a bridge who deliberately dropped his shoe below and told Zhang to fetch it and put it on him. Zhang swallowed his pride and did so. The old man set a dawn meeting five days later, twice scolded him for coming late, and on the third time Zhang waited from midnight. Only then did the old man give him a book of strategy, with which Zhang later helped Liu Bang found the Han.
