In the Sixteen Kingdoms era, Wang Meng grew up poor selling baskets, yet mastered military texts. When the Jin general Huan Wen marched north, Wang went to see him in rough clothes and discussed the affairs of the realm while calmly picking lice, as if no one else were there. He later served Fu Jian of Former Qin, was promoted five times in one year, and became a famously capable chancellor.
