A lot warning against self-harm. Present gains may carry a price; rushing for a moment's joy often hurts you most. Goujian ignored advice, fought, and fled to Kuaiji. The guidance mentions gossip and petty people; know when to stop, keep to what you have, and don't decide in the heat of emotion.

此卦割肉成瘡之象。凡事只宜守舊待時。
知止則止。知寬自寬。割自身肉。疾痛一般。
The image: cutting your own flesh into a wound; keep to the old and wait. The verdict: stop when you know to stop; ease up when you can; it is your own flesh you cut, and your own pain.
King Fuchai of Wu attacked Yue to avenge his father. Goujian of Yue ignored Fan Li and Wen Zhong's advice and insisted on battle; he was crushed and retreated to Mount Kuaiji with five thousand men, forced to sue for peace. Only through years of hardship did he later rebuild.
