Liu Zhiyuan of the Five Dynasties, of Shatuo origin, was poor and lived with his wife Li Sanniang's family, scorned by her brother. Guarding the melon field one night, he fought off a melon spirit and dug up a sword, then left to join the army and won fame. When the Later Jin fell he proclaimed himself emperor at Jinyang, founding the Later Han (from the drama The White Rabbit).
