子曰可也

What it means

It is acceptable, though not yet the best; there is room to grow.

Zigong asked about being poor without flattery and rich without arrogance; Confucius said "acceptable", but there is better still. What you ask about is acceptable and can work, yet there is room to grow; build on it.

Original context

From the Analects: Zigong asked, "Poor without flattering, rich without arrogance, how is that?" Confucius said, "Acceptable; but not as good as poor yet joyful, rich yet loving propriety."
