The image: searching for fire while holding a lamp; things succeed in their own time. The verdict: destined meetings will happen, so what cannot succeed? Don't overthink; what is in front of you is real.
King Zhao of Qin heard Zhao owned the He Shi jade and offered fifteen cities for it, insincerely. Lin Xiangru brought the jade to Qin, saw no cities would come, threatened to smash it, and secretly sent it home. Coveting another's treasure, the king gained only embarrassment.
