The image: a monkey slipping its chain; hard first, easy later. The verdict: you are free of the trouble, so ease your heart; when the time comes you will find the right road.
In the Three Kingdoms, Liu Zhang of Yizhou invited Liu Bei into Shu to help against Zhang Lu, supplying him with troops and grain. Stationed at Jiameng Pass, Liu Bei grew stronger and later took Yizhou as his own base, no longer dependent on others.
