The image: taking a thief as your son; mistaking false for true. The verdict: this one move, a wise person must not get wrong; keep it in mind and you won't end up alone.
The tyrannical minister Dong Zhuo bought the warrior Lü Bu with a fine horse and gold and adopted him as his son. Later they fell out over Diaochan, and Lü Bu conspired with Wang Yun to kill Dong Zhuo. Coveting a strong ally, Dong Zhuo had in fact adopted his own murderer.
