The image: ambition and achievement; keep to the usual and great fortune follows. The verdict: your resolve is stirring; holding steady is not too late; when the golden cock crows, all is joy.
Zu Ti and Liu Kun of the Western Jin were fellow clerks who shared a bed and endless talk of the realm. One midnight a cock crowed; Zu Ti nudged Liu Kun awake: that is no ill omen. They rose to practise swordsmanship, and kept it up day after day until both mastered letters and arms, one becoming a general, the other commander of three provinces.
